About

We help children engage their bodies and minds through fun and educational activities.

Our history

St Andrew’s Christian Preschool has been a cherished part of the Ōtāhuhu community for many years, growing out of the heart and ministry of St Andrew’s Church. From the beginning, our vision has been simple and deeply rooted in faith: to create a place where children are loved, nurtured, and encouraged to flourish in every part of their development.

What started as a small church‑based initiative has become a trusted early‑learning environment for local families — a place where children experience belonging, joy, and the foundations of lifelong learning. Our Christian values guide everything we do, shaping a culture of kindness, respect, and genuine care.

Today, we continue to serve our community with the same commitment that inspired our beginnings: one child, one family, one relationship at a time.

At St Andrew’s Christian Preschool, every child is seen, valued, and supported to grow into the unique person God created them to be.

Our graduates

Children leave St Andrew’s Christian Preschool confident, capable, and ready for school. Our graduates are known for their curiosity, resilience, and strong social skills, arriving in the classroom as enthusiastic learners who build friendships easily and participate with confidence. Teachers often comment on their readiness — not just academically, but in the way they communicate, collaborate, and approach new challenges with a positive spirit.

English is the primary language of our centre, but we celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community. Children are encouraged to use and share their home languages, and we weave te reo Māori, Pacific languages, and the languages of our whānau into daily learning. This strengthens identity, belonging, and pride, helping each child step into their next chapter grounded in who they are and supported by the values they’ve grown in.

Our community

St Andrew’s Christian Preschool is deeply connected to the Ōtāhuhu community, with families joining us from the surrounding neighbourhoods and wider South Auckland. This creates a close, supportive environment where relationships between kaiako, children, and whānau grow naturally. Our central location makes drop‑off and pick‑up easy for busy families, and parents are always welcome to spend time in the centre, share their culture, or simply stop in for a visit.

Our teaching approach blends play‑based learning with intentional, research‑informed strategies that support each child’s early development. We weave together language, literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social‑emotional learning in ways that are hands‑on, joyful, and culturally responsive. Children learn through exploration, storytelling, music, movement, and meaningful relationships — building strong foundations for school and for life.
